Environmental Reptile Fencing
Wednesday 26 July, 2006
Working together with The Ash Partnership, S J Fencing have been heavily involved in the environmental aspects of a soon-to-be developed building plot in St Leonards, East Sussex.
Bovis Homes acquired the land in St Leonards, near Hastings, in 2005 and soon brought in local Ecology, EIA and Survey expert Ashley Leftwich, (The Ash Partnership, to carry out a reptile survey before they could begin developing the site.
S. J. Fencing started work on the site in July 2005, the first phase being the erection of temporary Heras fencing securing the perimeter of the site, and making it safe for the public. Once this was in place we were able to bring in Eastbourne based S.P.O Construction to begin work digging out the trench ready for the reptile fencing to be installed.
Since constructing the reptile fencing we have been back a number of times to carry out additional repairs, ground clearance and environmental projects, including:
- Mound building for reptiles
- General repairs to the perimeter fence and to the reptile fence itself
- Extensions to the fence
This is an ongoing project and we have attended the site a number of times this year to carry out emergency repairs and to erect new reptile fencing.
Below is a selection of photographs we have taken during our visits.
