Chain Link Fencing
Residential & commercial fencing solutionChain link fencing is one of the most widely used fencing applications for commercial and security fencing solutions, but it is also quite commonly used in an array of residential or garden fencing scenarios too. Chain link fencing provides both a durable and cost effective boundary that can be specified in a diverse range of heights, colours and styles.
Sometimes referred to as wire netting and chain-wire fence, chain link fencing is a type of woven fence usually made from galvanised steel wire. The wires run vertically and are normally bent into a zigzag pattern so that each ‘zig’ hooks with the wire immediately on one side of each ‘zag’.
Chain link fencing is ideally suited to secure an area from intruders as it can be used inside of heavy growth areas, although they are also popular for use around community areas, parks, commercial sites, residential gardens or for keeping certain animals out of an area
When used in the domestic situation, common heights for chain link fencing are 900mm, 1200mm and 1800mm. Chain link is made in a number of different wire gauges, the thicker the wire the more expensive it is, but it is more durable and longer lasting. As with the height, the gauge size will depend on the surrounding area, maybe you just want a border fence, so the thinner gauge may suffice, but for pet control or security, the thicker mesh is recommended.
Chain link was one of the most common forms of fencing used in the commercial and security sectors of the fencing industry, before being superseded by mesh system fencing. It’s format gives both visibility and security. One of the best known uses is for tennis courts, but it can also used for marking warehouse or factory boundaries.
Chain link can be erected by using either steel concrete or timber posts and comes in a number of different sizes, with 1800mm being the most popular around commercial sites and it comes in several finishes including a heavy-duty galvanised mesh and PVC coated galvanised mesh.
